0.6.3 Conclusions about Methods and Actions

Some people have suggested that methods and actions are not really conclusions.  We disagree. 

●   We propose that we can make conclusions about the methods we use to identify what beliefs are reasonable.

●   We also propose that we can make conclusion as to what are the reasonable courses of action to take.

How we arrive at our beliefs is primary: as important, or more important, than the conclusions we arrive at.  So each of the 7 “knowledge domains� begins with a conclusion on how we seek the truth in:

philosophy (1), science (7), history (14), religion (21),

art and culture (26 & 27), personal practice (28) and politics (35).

(The numbers refer to ‘gold’ level statement numbers.)

The methods used in philosophy, science history and religion lead to other conclusions.

We think the whole of art and culture is at its core a search for the truth.

There are many conclusions we can come to in our personal and political lives.

What we do is critical: right beliefs should encourage right behaviour.  So each of Parts 1-7 ends with propositions related to our ongoing quest as human beings, for:

goodness and beauty (5 & 6),

conscious awareness – our natural state of being (13),

hopes for a prosperous future (20),

evidence based quests for meaning and purpose (25),

a celebration of interaction (26 & 27),

personal ‘spirituality’ (34) and

global responsibility (40 and 41).

Part 8 has one gold level conclusion (#42) asserting that the total of our beliefs and values is a satisfying whole.
